Recent runs

I’m two weeks shy of finishing Insanity and on day 87 of my 116 day burpee challenge.  I’ve been running at least 2 times a week and I have truly enjoyed it.  I run in Mansfield’s James McKnight park and it is so quiet and nice there.  It’s a short trail about 1.9 miles one way.  I go out and back sometimes twice.  Last week I ran 10 miles and they were nice.  On Saturday I met Tiffany for another 10 miles.  It was awesome.  Doing this cross training and stregnth training has made a difference in my pace and my endurance.  Beach to Bay is    on May 18th and Erik and I are going to make a weekend out of it to celebrate our 15 years married.  My leg on that relay is 4.7 miles long.  My fastest 4.4 mile tempo run was 38 minutes.  I want to get that time or faster for the race.  Tomorrow I have a bootcamp at 6am and then I’ll head out for a fast 4 mile run.  I think the faster I try to run the faster I’ll get.

On June 9th I’m running the wounded warrior half marathon.  I’m excited for this race because I want to PR 2 hours.  The plan is to only drink water at the aid stations.  Possibly go for 5-6 miles without stopping for water.  It’ll be tough since it’ll be June, but the race starts at 6:45am.  I’m hoping it won’t be too hot but either way, I’m excited to just wear a watch and go.

May 2010 I ran my first half marathon without gels or water bottles.  I ran the same time as I ran 2011 CowTown Half.  I had bottles and a watch, made no difference in my time.

I can’t wait to set up the training plan and get started on this training again.  It’ll be so cool to be able to run faster in this next marathon.  We’re thinking FW marathon in November. Tiffany thought it’d be better since it’s closer to home and the route goes through trinity trails.  Jennifer wants to run with us for her first marathon.  Yay!  I’m excited to add someone new to our running.  She lives in San Antonio so we’ll all be virtual running buddies, but maybe for our long runs she can come up and join us.

Off to bed now I have an early boot camp tomorrow!
